Weddings

We are delighted that you are considering getting married in St Anselm’s. You do not need to be baptised or attend a church to be married in a church. You are very welcome to marry here if:

  • You live in the parish, or

  • Have been attending the church for at least six months, or

  • Have a family or historic connection with St Anselm’s or the parish.

We offer pastoral care to everyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. At this present time the church is not allowed to conduct same-sex marriages, however we are here for you at all times including on this joyous occasion. Please do contact us if you would like to discuss how we can support you.

Banns

You need your banns of marriage read in our church if you are getting married here or if you live in the parish but are getting married in another Church of England church

Funerals

Organising a funeral can be a demanding task because there are many factors to take into consideration. Our clergy team is always ready to offer support and guidance, whether or not the funeral takes place here. If you are experiencing grief and would appreciate an opportunity to talk, please contact us.

A funeral in church can be arranged for anyone who lives in the parish or who has a link with the parish. There is no requirement for baptism or church attendance. A funeral in church provides an opportunity to remember, give thanks and mourn and to find comfort, consolation and courage within a building dedicated to faith, hope and love.

To find out how much a funeral in church costs, please see here for a Table of Fees.

Baptism

Anyone is welcome to be baptised (or 'christened') at St Anselm’s regardless of age, geography or commitment.  We believe that baptism is an outpouring of God’s grace on all God’s people.  If you would like to have a service to mark the birth or growth of your child, but you’re not sure if baptism is right for you, we also offer services of Thanksgiving.

We recommend that anyone considering being baptised first attends St Anselm’s and speak to a member of the clergy.  More information, including answers to many questions, can be found on the Church of England Christenings website.
