how you can help

We need volunteers on the day and beforehand, to help us make the event a success.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Rodney on ovendentowers@btinternet.com or Carol on cawoollard@icloud.com or cwoollard@talk21.com

Your prayers are needed for the smooth running of the event. Please also pray for our Christian Aid partners in recipient countries, that they use the aid wisely, and for the safety and wellbeing of the partners in conflict zones.

Help needed before the event:

  • Advertising the Fun Day - people to put up flyers in the local area e.g. in libraries, GP surgeries, shop windows etc.

  • Car driver needed to collect books from Stockwell, and return any unsold books after the event

  • Donations of goods to sell. We need donations of:

    • bric-a-brac

    • jigsaw puzzles

    • children’s toys and books

    • adult books

    • clothing - brand new clothing only, please

    • home produce - mostly to be brought on the day, but we may have some freezer space if needed

PLEASE LEAVE DONATIONS IN THE BOXES AT THE BACK OF CHURCH

Help on the day of the event:

  • People to set up tables and chairs from 9am on 16th May

  • Help to take equipment and other items back to St Anselm’s Church from 4pm onwards

  • People to run the stalls. Stall helpers need not volunteer for the whole day - a couple of hours or half a day would be fine

  • Singers or musicians to perform at the event for a short while. If you can recommend any musicians (we can pay travel expenses), please put them in touch with us!

Christian aid week: 10th - 16th May 2026

Please note that during Christian Aid Week, there will be envelope collection in North Lambeth churches, and a few limited house to house collections.

Joseph Vambe will be speaking at St Anselm’s on 17th May at the 10am service. Joseph, a speaker from Christian Aid, is also a Southwark councillor and lives on the Rockingham Estate. He balances both jobs with passion and enthusiasm; do come along and hear Joseph speak on Sunday 17th.
